Description of project objectives

The main project objective is to develop new method for fault location in 22 kV networks that would utilize the elements of artificial intelligence, concretely expert systems. An emphasis will be put on the complex approach to fault location and on respecting installed technology and the way of 22 kV network’s operation.

Partial objectives will be solved in three interlocked project phases:

Phase 1: The creation of model of 22 kV network

  • to formulate mathematical description of particular 22 kV networks’ elements,

  • to create complex simulation model of 22 kV network,

  • to verify the model.

Phase 2: The analysis of the faults occurring in 22 kV network

  • to simulate faults requiring fault location (earth-faults, short-circuits, overloading, etc.),

  • to analyze factors that influence identification of faults’ occurrence and type,

  • to analyze the possibilities of fault’s data acquisition into control information system,

  • to propose mathematical algorithm for fault location.

Phase 3: The analysis of expert system’s utilization for fault location

  • to propose expert system,

  • to interconnect proposed mathematical algorithm and expert system,

  • to verify the accuracy of developed method.
